In this strategy board game, you are an aspiring dragon enthusiast building a sanctuary to attract, house and study a spectacular collection of dragons. Your goal is to create the most successful sanctuary by carefully managing your resources, expanding your caves and attracting increasingly impressive creatures.
The clever part is that every decision matters. You begin with a small collection of caves and gradually expand your sanctuary, choosing where to place new caves and which dragons to welcome into your collection. Dragons have different abilities and requirements, so you'll need to think about how they work together. Do you concentrate on a particular type of dragon? Build an engine that generates loads of resources? Or simply collect the coolest-looking dragons you can find and hope for the best? There is more strategy here than the adorable artwork might initially suggest!
Wyrmspan is also a great game for people who enjoy building something that gets better as the game goes on. Your sanctuary starts small, but by the end of the game it can be packed with dragons, abilities and clever combinations. Watching your board develop is one of the most satisfying parts of the game — especially when a plan you've been quietly putting together suddenly clicks into place. Of course, there is always the possibility that someone else will take the dragon or resource you desperately wanted. That's when the polite competition begins.
Most importantly, Wyrmspan is easy to enjoy whether you're here for the strategy, the dragons, or simply a fun evening with the club. You don't need to be an expert board gamer to get started, and there's plenty of room to improve as you learn the different dragons and strategies.
